Without a doubt, Blogs are one of
the hottest areas in the domain industry these days. Whether its a "blog"
or "weblog" (the full term for blog), domainers and bloggers just
can't get enough of them. All the major extensions and several minor extensions
are taken for "blog", "blogs", "blogger", "weblog",
weblogger", "weblogs", and "blogging". Even demand for
blog hosting domains have caught fire. In fact, BlogHosting.com was recently bid
all the way up to $26,000 at Pool.com before a bid was mysteriously removed.
Blog-related domains for key industries are taken
as well. Forget about registering such domains as StockBlog.com, GameBlog.com,
and even DomainBlog.com. That said, I would suggest registering any (blank)Blog.com
that is available, has a moderate to high fan base, and fits one of your key
interests as you soon as you can. The way these names are being registered, the
pickings are getting slimmer and slimmer every day. According to
DeletedDomains.com, over 2000 domains containing "blog" have been
registered in the past 2 months! When you see names like 5iblog.com registered
you know that blogs have become a mania.
What's left in blogging to buy? For starters, use
"weblog" instead of "blog" if you need to. Although more
accurate, the term weblog is far from being as popular as blog. Although a
little riskier, try to search for niche areas of blogging as well. Two examples
of this are klogs and reblogs. Klogs are knowledge-based blogs that are picking
up steam inside of schools and companies, while reblogs utilize previously used
content. Look for more on the blog industry and its relationship with
domains in the coming weeks on DomainRadar.com.
Here is a partial listing of the different
